What is Charmed?
Charmed is/was a supernatural drama about three sister witches known as the Charmed Ones. They battle the force of evil on a daily basis and they protect the innocent. The strong power comes from their bond as sisters, The Power of Three.

When did Charmed start? (and more information)
Charmed started 7th October 1998 in America. Shannen Doherty (Beverly Hills star) was cast as eldest sister Prue Halliwell, Holly Marie Combs (Picket Fences) as Piper Halliwell and Alyssa Milano (Who's The Boss? star) as youngest sister Phoebe Halliwell.

Who is Lori Rom?
Lori Rom was originally cast as youngest sister, Phoebe Halliwell, but left for unknown "personal reasons" (rumoured to be religious beliefs). The pilot episode was filmed with Lori in it.

What are the sisters powers?
Prue Hallwell's powers were telekinesis (ability to move objects with the mind) and astral projection (to project ones soul to the astral plane). Piper's powers are temporal stasis (freeze time) and molecular combustion (speeding up molecules until they explode). Phoebe's powers are premonition (to see into the future/past), levitation (suspend self in mid air) and empathy (to feel and act upon others emotions). Paige's powers are orbing (whitelighter transportation), telekinetic orbing ("calling" objects to self in orbs), glamouring (change appearance to be another), sensing (sensing evil and sisters/charges/etc where-abouts) and healing (self explanatory). The sisters powers grow as they become stronger. Their powers are linked to their emotions and their powers come from their bond as sisters, if the bond is broken, they lose their powers and are left vulnerable.

Who is Paige, and where did she come from?
Paige is the sister's long lost baby half sister. The sister's mother, Patty had a forbidden affair with her whitelighter, Sam. When Paige was born, they put up for adoption at a church in order to secure Prue, Piper and Phoebe's natural birth right as the Charmed Ones. They first met Paige when Prue died after Piper cast the "To Call a Lost Witch" spell, instead of bringing back Prue, it drew Paige to the funeral. Phoebe had a premonition that she must save Paige, but wasn't aware that Paige could orb. They learn that Paige is their sister and because her dad was a whitelighter, Paige was the first ever half-witch, half-whitelighter. They met in 4x01 Charmed Again.

How did Prue die?
In episode 3x22 All Hell Breaks Loose the sisters are exposed as witches while saving an innocent Doctor. Phoebe and Leo go to the underworld to persuade Tempus (Time Demon) to turn back time to protect magic. While in the underworld, Leo cannot hear Prue and Piper's calls, so when Piper is shot, she dies. Just as Prue is about to be shot by armed police, time is reset. Phoebe is kept in the underworld as a price so is not there to say the spell to wound Shax. Piper, Prue and the Doctor are all attacked. When Leo returns, he is only able to save Piper, and Prue dies.

What is the Book of Shadows?
The Book of Shadows (BOS for short) is a collection of spells, potions and entries about magical beings. It was started by the sisters ancestor, Melinda Warren and was passed down from generation to generation. As the years went by, it has grown bigger and bigger as every witch that owns it adds entries about demons etc that they have faced. At the end of season 8 in Forever Charmed the sisters added their life stories.

What is the Ultimate Power and Ultimate Battle?
The ultimate power is Billie Jenkins, and Christy Jenkins was the key. Christy was kidnapped by demons so that she would be raised to persuade Billie to kill the Charmed Ones. When Billie was reunited with Christy, Christy slowly started turning her against the sisters, making her believe they needed to be stopped. Billie and Christy fought against the Charmed Ones, but because both sides summoned the Hollow, they were equally matched and Christy, Phoebe and Paige were killed in a massive explosion. Leo was returned to Piper by the Angel of Destiny after being taken to give Piper and her sisters a reason to fight. Piper went back in time to warn her sisters and gathered family from the past to help, but Billie also went back in time to warn her sister. Piper, Grams and Patty removed the Hollow, and everyone was brought back to life, and Leo taken again. Christy still wanted to kill the Charmed Ones, but when she attacked Billie and the sisters, Billie fought back, and vanquished her sister. The battle was won and Leo returned and they had a very happy ending.

What is a whitelighter? [Gen]
A whitelighter is a guardian for good witches. People who have done good things while they were alive become whitelighters when they die. A whitelighter doesn't reveal who they are to their charges (witches, future whitelighters etc) but they come into their lives in disguise. Leo (Charmed's Ones whitelighter) arrived as a handy man, but Phoebe discovered who he was. Whitelighters have the power to sense their charges and if they're in danger. They can orb (transportation), heal and lots of other things. Whitelighter's bosses are called The Elders (otherwise known as "Them" or "The Powers That Be"). A whitelighter can become mortal again if they're wings are clipped for bad behaviour, in extreme cases, their soul will be recycled. They can also "fall from grace" quite literally.  It was against the law for a witch/charge to have a relationship with a whitelighter, let alone marry one and have children. Piper and Leo managed to persuade the Elders to let them marry and have a child. The Elders had to get rid of the "no children" rule when the Power of Three was broken, and the first ever half witch-half whitelighter was the only person who could restore it (Paige if you are wondering who that was).

What is The Hollow? [Gen]
The Hollow is an extremely powerful form of magic that consumes powers. It is contained in a box and was guarded by good and evil. Who ever releases the hollow will be able to consume the powers used against them, but the Hollow eventually drives the beholder insane. Good and Evil is needed to restore the Hollow back in its place (although this wasn't the case in Forever Charmed, it only needed Piper, Grams and Patty.)
